On December 23, 2024 I accepted a job to do invoicing for my friend's business. In May of 2025 I had my work hours trimmed down to two days per week. Within about six to eight weeks my work hours were restored to full time and they remained that way until this week.

On July 2, 2026 I went on vacation. Upon my return to work on July 20, 2026 I was once again laid off. This begs the question - if I am ever asked to return, should I? Honestly right now I feel like I should not. This is one of the oldest questions we have. Why should I continue to try and hold onto something that keeps letting me go?

This text is not about complaining. I'm actually going to express my deep gratitude for my unpaid vacation. The truth is that I have a business that I run in addition to working. My business has boomed this week since being let go from my job. I cannot thank God enough for freeing me from a job that was boring and that I hated the commute to and from. Lord please let these prosperous times continue today and every day.

I hope this information emphasizes the importance of having multiple streams of income and being able to cover your own ass when things get rough. I'm fortunate to have a supporting wife and daughter. Cover your ass, care about yourself and look out for your fellow humans.

Until I speak with you again, I wish you fair winds and following seas. God bless!
